This site is dedicated to the exploration of the “human condition”, and some rather unique ways to deal with our ever increasingly complex world. We will explore these “existential concerns” using a number of media types, including written word, video, music, and spoken word.
*The human condition is "the characteristics, key events, and situations which compose the essentials of human existence, such as birth, growth, emotionality, aspiration, conflict, and mortality."
As an additional dimension, we explore contemporary Right/Left Brain Hemisphere Theory. Our “treatment” tab offers unique techniques to contradict the negative effects of a too-left-brained society, i.e. an emotionally detached dehumanizing society that fosters personal meaninglessness and isolation. You can get an overview of contemporary L/R Brain theory by watching this brief animated video from Dr. Iian McGilchrist.
Erich Fromm’s book Sane Society provides the reader enlightening insights into how our “insane” (“too-left-brained”?) society negatively influences our personal freedom, increases our sense of meaninglessness, and promotes the 3 forms of existential isolation. We highly recommend it; it is well worth the read. Other relevant books will be reviewed and featured on OMM in the coming months as well.
